It's been a while since i posted anything so i thought i would share a few thoughts and also what i have been up to since my last ramblings. I've not been idle since the wonderful visit to the Hop Farm. There are a number of model projects off and on my workbench. Nothing has been inspiring me of late. My enthusiasm is there but i needed something to spark me into action. 

It came at Dundee model show in early August, when i met Gordon from Mitches Military Models. He sells Napoleonic figures and busts and it was his 200mm bust of an officer of the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers that caught my eye. Wonderful sculpting and casting, i had to have one! See the picture below. Very good prices, given it is a resin casting. When you consider the prices of some figure manufacturers, this is a bargain. I have been cleaning it up and preparing it for a primer undercoat but i need more practice on face painting so i can at least attempt to do it justice. The bust is now out as a full figure in 200mm, look forward to seeing it.

I looked out a 1/16 head i had in the spares box and proceeded to paint it, in the mean time i was kindly given some spare heads to paint as well so now i have 6 to do. Meanwhile the days are ticking by and it dawned on me there is a competition at IPMS Edinburgh in September so i better get something finished for that as well. It's all go. I am putting the finishing touches to 1/35 scale,  Iwo Jima marine Sherman, with crew. More figure painting, just the practice i need. Picture of the tank, crew and base to follow.

Here are few pictures of the head i was practicing on. It's 1/16 scale and is from Verlinden. The eyes look a bit big in the pictures but they look OK on the head. Hey, i was never going to get it right first time!
